Application

The most important uses are used as monomers for synthetic rubber and plastics to produce styrene butadiene rubber, polystyrene, and foamed polystyrene; they are also used to copolymerize with other monomers to produce engineering plastics with different uses. SBS made by copolymerization with butadiene is a kind of thermoplastic rubber, which is widely used as modifier of polyvinyl chloride and polypropylene. It is also used in the production of styrene series resins and styrene butadiene rubber. It is also one of the raw materials for the production of ion exchange resins and pharmaceuticals. In addition, styrene can also be used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, dyes, pesticides, and mineral processing.
